The Transcontinental Race is the definitive self-supported bicycle race across Europe. At the sharp end it is a beautifully hard bicycle race, simple in design but complex in execution. Factors of self reliance, logistics, navigation and judgement burden racers’ minds as well as their physiques. The strongest excel and redefine what we think possible while many experienced riders target only a finish.
We would like to thank everyone for their patience during this time of transition. This period has allowed us to take the necessary steps to ensure that the Transcontinental Race remains a grassroots event, the way Mike Hall had envisioned, to continue his legacy; run by racers for racers. The organising team, including Anna Haslock, Tom Kirkpatrick, Rory Kemper and Juliana Buhring, is comprised of both racers and those who have worked closely with Mike. We have been involved in the successful execution of the TCR for several years and have an intimate and indispensable knowledge of the race.
We have been working hard over the past several months to ensure that everything is in place for another successful edition of the TCR. We have recently come to an agreement with the Hall family to acquire full ownership of the event, which will be set up as a not-for-profit. We feel that this reflects the tremendous value that volunteers contribute to the race, as well as ensuring that the event stays true to its roots and its spirit, without being compromised by commercial interests. Patricia and Russell Hall will continue to be closely involved as volunteers and supporters of the event. We would also like to thank the Hall family for making this possible.
It is with great pleasure and excitement that we announce the 6th edition of the Transcontinental Race. The TCRNo6 will begin on July 29th, in Geraardsbergen.
We will be releasing more details including control points and the registration opening date shortly, so be sure to watch this space.
