Welcome to the eighth edition of the Transcontinental Race. Returning to the traditional direction of a journey from west to east the race starts on the western most tip of France in the historic port city of Brest. The city was a warm and hospitable host last year when TCRNo7 finished on the plage du Moulin Blanc, shortly before the arrival of around 6000 cyclists for the quadrennial Paris Brest Paris.
TCRNo8 will be a long race including, as has now become traditional, sections of unpaved, gravel route to challenge a rider’s technical skill, bike set-up and kit choice. As our friend and founder Mike Hall quipped “nothing that’s worth anything is ever easy”. A statement we hold to when designing the race route each year. For the first year the race will eschew the Alps, exploring instead the more esoteric routes of the Carpathian Mountains.
